| Help Texas State Parks State officials are calling what happened to Texas State Parks this year a triple whammy. Record drought, destructive wildfires and a dramatic drop in visitation has sparked a new sense of urgency to raise revenue to keep parks open. For everyone who cares about these special treasures, there’s three simple ways you can help. 1) Go to the Texas State Parks website and make a tax deductible contribution to help support your state parks. 2) Coming January, when you go to renew your vehicle registration, you’re going to be given an opportunity to make a $5 or more contribution to support your state parks. 3) Most importantly, take your family out to visit one of your state parks as often as you can. For more information on how you can help, or to make a donation, visit www.texasstateparks.org/givenow. |

| Consumer Credit Counseling Service Texas Veteran's Assistance Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater San Antonio (CCCSSA) has been awarded a grant by the Texas Veterans Commission to provide services for financially stressed Texas Veterans, their dependents and survivors. The grant covers the client’s portion of the administrative cost of the Debt Management Program (DMP). Debt Management Plans (DMPs) are negotiated payments with creditors that pay off debts with creditor concessions. Since DMPs actually pay off the debt, instead of having a portion of it charged off or "settled", the impact on future credit is more positively treated by potential creditors. DMPs have a maximum term of 60 months to pay off non-secured debts. The Texas Veteran, dependent or survivor will receive an in-depth analysis of their financial situation and if a DMP is the best solution to their specific needs, the plan is put in place. CCCSSA certified counselors are trained and experienced to help Texas Veterans achieve their financial goals. The CCCSSA grant is part of $2 million grant funds awarded through the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veteran's Assistance. Texas Veterans Commission funds will provide assistance to 4,968 veterans and their families.
